Duncan MMA Classes are broken down into “levels”. Below is a description of the varying levels specific to BJJ training.
- Level 1 – Fundamentals Training – Beginners are welcome. Lots of detailed instructions for basic moves and concepts that are practiced starting with no resistance that is slowly increased. Some situational drilling is done at the end of class to specifically practice the techniques for that week in a live way. Some live rounds (called rolling) is done.
- Level 2 – Intermediate Training – Students are expected to know the warm ups and to understand basic positions and submissions. Minor instruction is given on fundamentals with the focus being more advanced techniques and linking together fundamental techniques into sequences. Students must be willing to live train at the end of class. These classes are more cardio intensive.
- Level 3 – Advanced Training – Students must have a firm knowledge of the fundamentals to attend. Advanced techniques are taught in a semi-live environment and practiced with real resistance. These classes are more cardio intensive.
- Level 4 – Competition Training – All students are welcome, but training is specifically geared towards competitors. Classes have a high cardio intensity and involve a large amount of live rounds.
